Stranger Danger class

Updated: October 11, 2012

WARRENSBURG -- One Macon County police chief is doing his part to keep the kids in his town safe. He spent the whole day teaching students in Warrensburg-Latham the "do's and don't's" when it comes to strangers.

He says "stranger danger" isn't common, but can happen anywhere at any moment. That's why he says it's best to get kids on the right track early.

The class is just one part of a week-long "Safe Community" celebration. This is the first year it's taking place.

In light of more than a dozen attempted kidnappings in Central Illinois since August, starting Monday, WCIA-3 News will show you safety tips you and your children might not have seen before.
