Farewell Robert Reese

Updated: October 11, 2012
WCIA-3 Meteorologist Robert Reese passed away Tuesday night at a hospital in Chicago.

He'd been battling pneumonia recently and dealing with cancer for many years.

Robert began his career at WCIA 3 in 1998 and served as the station's chief meteorologist for nearly four years.

Comments

I am very sad that we lost Robert. I looked forward to hearing him first thing in the morning and when he wasn't on I would always turn to the radio to hopefully hear his cheerful voice. He truly was a gift from God. My prayers go to his family including WCIA, WBGL, and other radio stations that knew him as family.

I enjoyed Robert humor on camera & how he explained the different weather temanology he explained. my God bring you comfort and peace. May the Resse family be surrounded by the best of family and friends in this time of sorrow. May you find comfort and laughter in the many memories.

I have watched Robert for all of his WCIA years and found comfort in knowing that he was keeping an eye on the skies for us and had our back from a weather perspective. I also enjoyed all of his On the Road segments, which he seemed to take great joy in. My heart goes out to his family and his WCIA family as well. It is hard enough to deal with the loss of someone so amazing and loved but to have to report on it also had to have been hard on the entire WCIA team. My heart goes out to all of you and my prayers are with you also. Robert is now looking down from the skies with the best seat in the house. He will never be forgotten and he will always be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with Robert's family and the WCIA family. I feel blessed to have worked with Robert and the WCIA weekend team for just a few short months one year ago. I freelanced in the weather department during the holidays to help cover days while short staffed and when Robert was fighting the strong fight in his battle with cancer. There are no words that can truly ease the pain, but I hope that his family finds comfort in the outpouring of support that comes from the many viewers whose lives he touched over the years.

I am going to miss starting my day with the morning show and Robert Reese. I would also hear him give the weather on WBGL. I fondly remember once when he was giving the weather on the radio his little boy must have walked in cause he just causually said Hi buddy daddy's giving the weather right now I will be right there. You could hear in his voice his genuine concern and care for others. I will miss him . God bless and comfort to his family . Carolyn C

My heartfelt sympathy's to Roberts family, and friends. I met Robert while in Arcola with my Mother, and Grandson. I spied him across the restraunt we were eating at. He was having a lovely time with his wife, and kids. I was so taken by how he showed so much love for his wife, and the love, and attention to his children. I didn't want to be a weather fan going up to say how he was a great Meteorologist. I went up briefly to tell him how I thought they were a lovely family. Adding after I appreciated his forecasts., He was courteous,as well his family. He introduced them. Then I smiled thanked him, and went back to my family. Such a lovely man. I will miss him. God bless his family.
