CHAMPAIGN -- City leaders rolled up their sleeves to serve some local heroes. Council members cooked dinner for the Champaign Fire Department Tuesday night. It's one of the group's team-building projects.

They chose the fire department because it's National Fire Prevention Week. Councilman Tom Bruno says it was all-hands-on-deck to put together this feast.

"Three different council members are making lasagna, one made a big salad, a couple of them are making deserts. Paul Faraci is making Bananas Foster in honor of Karen Foster, Vic is making bread," he said.

They might look like amateur cooks, but the council members do have some experience in a kitchen. They've also cooked for the police department and public works.
