Voter ID laws considered

SPRINGFIELD -- States around the country are looking at voter ID laws. Illinois isn't, but if it did, a lot of people wouldn't be able to vote.
A poll from the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute found 1/10 of people in our state don't have a photo ID. Many states require voters to show one at polling places. Illinois doesn't.
The institute says this poll should encourage lawmakers to tread lightly if they consider voter ID laws in our state.
