URBANA -- A cell phone app being created at the UI can help save your life. Two students are behind the idea.

It's called iRescue. It works like this: in time of a crisis, like an earthquake, you can open the app. It will then ask you questions, like are you hurt or are you trapped? The app will also work as a GPS for first responders so they can find you inside of a building.

Reza Shiftehfar and Hyungchul Yoon have been working on it for almost three years now.

"I was really happy to improve the victim assessment's system and to help the people in emergency response," said Yoon.

"Even if we can save one life in the future, I would be very happy with my achievements," said Shiftehfar.

The app is still currently in its development stage, but Shiftehfar and Yoon plan to do some tests on it before the end of the year. They hope it will be a standard app on all smart phones at some point.
