Leaders talk about proposed coal mine

HOMER -- Village board members will discuss a proposed mine in the area at Monday meeting. The coal mine would be about five miles south of town in Vermilion County, but it would need to use water from the community.
Mayor David Lucas said they will discuss a reimbursement plan at the meeting. He said the village has enough water for the project.
The mine would need between 2,000-4,000 gallons of water a month. That's the same amount the junior high uses. The mine would return water as sewage to be treated in the village.
