CHAMPAIGN -- A quick thief takes off with a popular gadget. It happened near the intersection of University Avenue and Randolph Street, just before noon, August 13.

The victim was riding an MTD bus. His i-Pad was showing from an open backpack. The suspect grabbed the device and exited the bus. A minute or two later, the victim realized it was gone.

The suspect is a black man, possibly in his 30's, with a medium-build, about 5'9", 160 lbs. He might possibly have light facial hair. He was wearing a red letter-man jacket with white sleeves and patches on both sleeves, plus the left breast of the jacket.

Police remind people to be vigilant and take care of their property. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous and may earn a cash reward.
