TUSCOLA -- Douglas County deputies are close to breaking up a burglary ring. It took six different police agencies to round up Derek Chandler, Phil Jones and Michael Pressler.

All were arrested for breaking into more than a dozen businesses and barns, stealing anything metal. They've hit 17 places in Arcola, Bowdre, Camargo, Murdock, Newman and Sargent Townships since May.

However, the sheriff's office says the threat is still out there. Two others are wanted for arrest warrants.

A sixth person has been summoned to court. Deputies urge residents to lock machine sheds. Also, to make sure doors are strong and secure.

I don't find this story ridiculous. They definitely weren't working on their own. Clearly some people don' t know all the facts. Yes Derk robbed our sister, but not alone. Phil was also later arrested & charged with robbing my sisters home. My sister doesn't own a van but yes he did rob her home of of tvs & other electronics. Yes some local businesses & other homes were robbed & I do believe Derek & Phil are being charged with all of those.. this is a completely different story with new charges that are being brought up, that the news is talking about. How is that ridiculous? & there are others that were in on it, that haven't been arrested yet. I think people should be aware & informed that there are still some people on the loose, who are robbing.

This is a ridiculous story. Derek has been in jail since probably June and he was caught right after a burglary. Phil has been in jail since mid July. There is no "burglary ring" these idiots were working on their own. And Derek stole his own sisters van and tv. Not metal. Bars were robbed of money, not metal. Why is this mis information being presented??? I am sorry for those people who had their property stolen, and if I was them, I would want the police and the media to report the truth and not blow this up into something that it really is not.
