URBANA -- Some future veterinarians learned lessons about how to take care of animals. It was of a free open house at the University of Illinois vet center. Dozens of kids and their families took part.

Kids got to put on veterinary scrubs and get up close with a variety of different animals. They could also look at x-rays and learn about how each animal's body is unique.

"We looked at horses, pigs, snakes and lizards," said Janelle Walton who went to the open house.

"We learned how to give a dog a bath," said Asim Baraka, of Champaign.

Some children also learned how to take care of horses and wrap their legs. There were more than 40 exhibits and demonstrations to take part in at the clinic.
