CHAMPAIGN -- People stepped out to find a cure for diabetes in Hessel Park. The event raised money for people like Will Nall. He was diagnosed with diabetes after his pancreas stopped working when he was six.

Nall got a medal for raising more than $1,000 for the event Sunday.
His family walked with him and enjoyed support from a community which has stuck by them every step of the way.

"Makes me feel great because I have the most amazing family in the world," said Nall.

"We've just had a whole town supporting us for this, so it was an amazing day for all of us," said Nall's mother, Kristin.

"Whatever we can do that'll help this condition, we can control it or even end it, that'd be terrific," said John Stokes, who also walked in the event.

More than 250 people signed up to take two laps around the park. Many wore shirts supporting their teams and the people they were walking for.
