State to promote specialty crops

SPRINGFIELD -- The state is getting more than $500,000 to help boost our specialty crop industry. It includes things like pumpkins.

Illinois grows more of them than any other state. The USDA grant will fund research programs, training for farmers and a "buy-local" ad campaign. 

Other specialty crops include broccoli and cauliflower. Illinois is also the number one grower of horseradish.
