CHAMPAIGN -- A young girl is approached by a man while waiting for the bus. It happened around 7:20 am Thursday.

Police say a witness saw a dark-colored vehicle slow down while the child was standing alone. The person drove away, but quickly returned and stopped near the child.
The witness stepped in to help before the suspect could say or do anything.

The incident is not being described as an attempted abduction because no verbal or physical contact was made. The driver is described as a heavy-set black man in his 20's.

Police urge parents to talk to their children about stranger danger. Anyone with information about this incident, should call police.
