State senator on trial

SPRINGFIELD -- A state lawmaker is heading to court next week. Senator Suzi Schmidt will be on trial for criminal damage and trespassing charges in suburban Chicago.

She's accused of throwing boat oars from her neighbor's yard into a nearby marsh. Police say she also punched a hole in a bag of feed outside their home. If convicted, she faces up to a year in prison.
