Park upgrades come with big price tag

DECATUR -- Some area parks could be in jeopardy of closing. They all have to meet certain standards to be handicap-accessible.

City leaders are worried about the cost though. Updating all the park district facilities comes with a $3 million price tag. Some have suggested renovating some parks and closing the rest.

Park District Director Bill Clevenger says the city could get some grant money to pay for upgrades. They would not need all of the money at once though. The work is scheduled to be done over the next few years
