Updated: October 8, 2012

DECATUR -- A former University of Illinois sprinter is running across the state. Maxwell Mkwezalamba started in Springfield and is not stopping until he gets to Chicago.

He's running the 200 miles in 2 weeks. He wants to help put an end to violence against kids and is hoping his journey will be an inspiration.

He says for good luck he wears the same hat, shorts and even the same shoes he trained with in college.
