TOLONO -- Teachers are taking their lessons outdoors. It's all part of Unity Elementary's "West Woods Project." Every year students head out to the woods by the school to plant, water and mulch trees.

Each new student gets a tree to plant. Students put in the work, knowing they're not the only ones who get to enjoy and appreciate the area. Students use the woods to study different species of trees and ecosystems.
