DANVILLE -- Police are investigating the theft of potentially hazardous materials from Bunge Milling. A pesticide handler reported five packs of Phostoxin chemicals were missing Wednesday morning.

The controlled substance is used to treat railroad cars and can only be used by licensed personnel. When exposed to water or moist air, the chemical will release toxic, corrosive or flammable gasses posing toxic or deadly consequences.

The stolen chemical was in tablet form at the time of the theft. Once activated, it continues to emit gasses up to three days. Anyone with any information is asked to call 911.
