DECATUR -- More than two dozen people were taken into custody during a city-wide round-up of domestic violence suspects. Authorities say it's something they do not take lightly. WCIA-3's Ashley Michels has more.

Police say domestic violence happens all too often. They get about 100-calls a week. That's why they wanted to get their most wanted off the streets.

In just one day, they nabbed 24-alleged offenders. Like Jason Roethe who's accused of attacking a woman and breaking her collarbone. Also, Riley Jackson who's already been charged with domestic violence more than once.

But, there are still 75-more officials want to catch. Police say they're hoping to prevent more people from getting hurt.

"It's an age-old problem, but it's a serious problem if people aren't held accountable, then they can obviously do more violence or more serious offenses."

The chief says this is the most successful roundup they've ever done. A few have even turned themselves in because of it. Police will be searching for the rest of the people on their list during the next few weeks, but, they're hoping more will turn themselves in first.
