Parkland students saddle up to raise some money

CHAMPAIGN -- A Parkland College group is trying to corral some cash. The equestrian club is raising money for its shows and competitions.

It offered horse and pony rides to anyone who stopped by. The students also taught people how to handle animals.

"A lot of them don't know a lot about horses," said Maridy Robeck, a junior. "This way, we kind of teach them safety and how to walk and interact with them."

Last year, the club was able to raise around $400. Members hope to do the same this year.
