CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- More jobs could be making their way to Central Illinois. A small group is hoping a big chain will make C-U its new home.

That chain is Trader Joe's. The group, Trader Joe's for CU, has started a website and petition. It started collecting signatures in June. So far, it has more than 2,500. The goal is 5,000.

Kylene Gilbert is a group organizer. She says right now they're focusing their efforts on the college students, hoping to get them on board as well.

"We feel that we need something in our town where people can shop regularly and not have to worry about money in their pocketbooks," said Gilbert. "Not worry about spending astronomical amounts of money for something healthy on their family."

The group has already been talking with developers. They say they've found three possible sites for the store to set up shop.

Once they've gathered enough signatures, the plan is to send everything to the Trader Joe's corporation to show them a store would be possible and profitable in the area.
