CHARLESTON -- One man is pushing for concealed-carry in Illinois. Stan Carpenter is passing a petition around Coles County. He wants to get a referendum on next year's April ballot.

It would give voters a chance to say if they agree with the practice which is banned in Illinois. No laws would change as a result of the vote, but Carpenter says the point is to give supporters a chance for their voices to be heard.

Carpenter has more than 200-signatures. He needs about 1,200 to get the proposal on the ballot.
