FARMER CITY -- It lost its newspaper but that's not keeping the town from sharing stories. Our Town has found a way to stay connected.

The Farmer City Journal printed its final paper in 2010. But since then the town of about 2,000 has turned to social media.

The mayor, historical society, and business owners are all on Facebook. There are also several community pages.

People say social media is what really helped them get the word out about WCIA-3's Our Town vote. People from as far away as California caught wind of it and helped earn more than 10,000 votes.
