Updated: September 17, 2012
Police say there was some kind of fight inside the bar. It moved outside and involved several people. It was around 1:50 am when a 22-year old man was shot and killed. The gunman took off. Police are confident someone knows the shooter.
Matt Goulet, with the Springfield Police Department says, "We know there were a lot of people outside at the time. We know there were several carloads of people pulling in and out, so somebody knows who the shooter was."
Investigators describe the gunman as a black man between 20 - 30 years old, 5' 9" and 170 lbs. He had twisted braids and was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and possibly a hat. It's not clear what sparked the fight.
Goulet encourages anyone with information to call Sangamon Menard County Crime Stoppers at 788-8427. Or text: Tip672 plus your information and send it to CRIMES. Or log on. If your tip leads to an arrest, you could get a $1,000 reward.
