Snow leaves Warrensburg Stranded
Updated: February 15, 2007
WARRENSBURG- County Highway 121 was closed for 2 days because of dangerous road conditions, leaving people in Warrensburg trapped in town.121 is the main two lane highway in and out of the village of Warrensbug, so when it shut down, getting around town wasn't easy. People in the village said when you live in the rural areas of town you just have to be ready.
Today schools were closed for the third day in a row. Late last night plows were making it through the highways and into town, finally freeing those stuck.
Plows are not making it through streets and those with snow blowers have been busy. Mayor, Leland Hackl says with Highway 121 closed the village seemed empty.
Those people from Warrensburg who work in Decatur say they couldn't make it and all they could do was wait for the plows to come through and help out a neighbor.
The mayor and village workers were shoveling out the school's parking lots today. They said it is a difficult decision to have the schools closed for this many days but they want to make sure it's safe before students get there.
The Warrensburg school district says it plans to have students back in the classroom tomorrow.
