New state laws aim to protect seniors

SPRINGFIELD -- The state is doing more to protect the rights of seniors. Governor Quinn just signed about a dozen new laws, all of them aimed at providing more safety and oversight.

One includes extra training requirements for nursing homes. Workers will have to learn how to properly lift residents. Supporters say the new policy will make a big difference.
