CHATHAM -- Board members spent years trying to get the village its own water plant, and this year, their hard work finally paid off. The new plant opened up this May in Rochester giving the village even more independence.

Previously, Chatham was sharing water with CWLP in Springfield. Del McCord helped spearhead the project. He says it's exciting to see it finally come to life.

"All the members on the board that have been a part of this felt it was important for us to be in control of our own destiny, especially for something as vital as water," said McCord.

The multi-million dollar project was funded through local and federal dollars.
