CHARLESTON - Firefighters in Charleston hope a new program will save them time during rescue calls. The device is called a knox box and it's designed to protect residential property from forced entry damage during fire and medical emergencies.
Your house key is kept outside of your home in the box and emergency crews keep the key to the box.
A few homeowners already have a knox-box and firefighters say they're getting rave reviews.
Firefighters say they can get into a home with a knox boxes in less than a minute during a rescue. Home boxes cost about $170.
