DANVILLE -- If you're visiting here, there's plenty to see. This week WCIA-3 News did everything from soaring in the sky to hanging out an an antique shop. WCIA-3's Amanda Porterfield takes us on a road trip through Our Town Danville.

Just driving into town is a sight to see. The Wall Dogs have left their mark all over city walls, honoring famous people who've lived here while showing off the town's history.

Speaking of history, we hopped into Rabbit Town Antiques. It's a place where you can find just about anything. And, she's not full of hot air.

But, this balloon is. That's because Danville is one of the best spots to sail in they sky.

"Well, Danville is kind of a small community, but it has a huge balloon population relative to its size. Because of the beauty we have to fly in, you know, we'll get people from other countries to come fly with us, sometimes other states."

When you get that high, you get hungry. So we checked out Charlotte's.

"We have a salmon BLT salad, we have a baked chicken salad, we have a chef salad, we have a crispy chicken salad, we have a fruited spinach salad, we have a healthy choice salad."

For those who like to explore, you can do just that at Carver Park. Months of work has turned it into a community staple.

"When I drive by on Seminary Street and see the parking lot full, and see all kinds of activities, I just think of the saying, 'If you build it, they will come.'"

Also, be sure to stop by Springhill Cemetery; the resting place of some famous figures.

"Uncle Joe Cannan was buried here. He was a speaker for the U.S. House of Representatives. Just things like that."

"I think it's just an asset to our history and our heritage."

All things you can only find in Our Town Danville. There's also a wonderful place called Threads of Time Quilt Shop. What makes it special is its retreat center. You can actually go there, spend the night with your friends and sew.
