Small Communities Hope to Band Together for Break on Power Costs

Updated: February 5, 2007
Smaller communities in central Illinois hope to band together to get a break on their power bills. Towns and school districts in six counties including Coles, Douglas, and Moultrie are looking at teaming up to reach a deal with a power provider. The Coles County Regional Planning Director says there is already a lot of interest. He is in talks to see if the deal can happen. It would be similar to the agreement Coles County reached last week. The deal is saving the county, Charleston, Mattoon and the school districts hundreds of thousands of dollars.
