Dixon Comptroller Fired for Embezzling

Updated: April 23, 2012
DIXON-- Rita Crundwell is no longer the comptroller of the city of Dixon. Commissioners voted unanimously today to remove her from office.
Crundwell is accused of stealing more than $30 million from the city. The city has already recovered $200,000 from a secret account used by Crundwell.
Crundwell tried to resign over the weekend. City leaders did not accept her letter of resignation. She was invited to the City Council meeting to defend herself before she was fired. She did not show up.
