"When it comes to sports I want to provide our viewers with a variety of highlights and features," says Aaron. "My goal is to really bring Central Illinois inside the story."

Aaron has called Central Illinois home nearly his entire life.  He grew up in Pleasant Plains, a small town outside Springfield. Aaron's college years were spent at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he graduated with honors with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism.

Aaron started his professional career at KOMU-TV in Mid-Missouri, but he is excited about being back in Illinois and working for WCIA3., "The best part about being a news leader is working with other news leaders.  Everyone has a passion for news and a passion for telling stories," Aaron says. "It's a great environment!"

Feature sports stories are Bennett's favorite part of being a sports reporter.

"My most memorable story was one I did about a wide receiver on a high school football team, who had no hands," Bennett recalled, "It was a rewarding experience to get to know the athlete and share his story."

Bennett encourages viewers to contact him with stories about athletes overcoming tremendous obstacles or doing something else very noteworthy. Bennett can't shake his passion for sports, in his free time he enjoys watching sports, and going to sport events, but he also loves spending time with his wife Stephanie and daughter Brooklynn.

"What I enjoy most about WCIA3 is the chance to be involved with sports everyday." Aaron said, "The chance to tell an interesting story about sports is what keeps me coming to work everyday."
