Raising Children: Parent/Grandparent Conflicts

Updated: January 7, 2009
As shared by Sheryl Bautch of Family Service on "The Morning Show." One of the most common sources of conflict in extended families is disagreement between parents and grandparents on issues of child rearing. Good communication and respect for each others` role in the child`s life are essential to minimizing these conflicts. TIPS: -Don`t sweat the small stuff -See it from their perspective -Respect their rules in their house For Grandparents -Offer support, not criticism -Respect limits established by the parents For Parents -Consider what your parents say- they`ve done this before! 30 October 2003
