The National Retail Federation reports that families with school age children will spend an average of $483. on back-to-chool items, up from $450. last year.
Susan Abbott of Busey Bank has a few suggestions for keeping to a back-to-school budget.
1. Plan ahead, follow budget, set spending goals
2. Help them comparison shop before leaving home, and in the stores
3. Use bargaining skills, and reward them for a good job
4. Continuing education
