A standoff in Atwood is over. Police arrested 41-year old Dan West. Police originally thought he was in his parent's home in the 200-block of N. Iowa Ave. He was actually in a large machine shed next door. Officials say they asked him to surrender and he cooperated.
The whole ordeal lasted about seven hours. No one was hurt, and no shots were ever fired. West is in the Douglas County Jail, and could go before a judge tomorrow.

Several law enforcement agencies are on the scene of a possible standoff in Atwood. Police responded to a call of a possible burglary in the 200-block of N. Iowa about 11:20 am. About two dozen officers from Atwood police, the Douglas County Sheriff's Department and SWAT teams are on scene, but have not been able to confirm whether anyone is in the home.
Neighbors say the homeowner is a sportsman, so officials worry if someone is inside, they may have access to weapons. Authorities continue to try to make contact, but are waiting for the arrival of a robotic camera. A "code red call" was made to residents in the area notifying them to stay indoors until the situation was resolved.
