Travel with Children

Updated: January 7, 2009
Any parent will tell you that when you travel with children, you need good planning, imagination, and patience. But what else do you need to know? Lisa Hettinger with L & L Travel and her daughter Kelsi share their family-friendly travel tips on "The Morning Show." TRAVELLING BY CAR TRAIN PLANE KIDS START OFF EXCITED FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 15-30 MINUTES THEN THE QUESTIONS START: HOW MUCH LONGER TILL WE GET THERE? ARE WE GOING TO STOP SOON BECAUSE I`M HUNGRY OR HAVE TO GO TO THE BATHROOM? I`M BORED!!!!!!!!!!! AND LET`S FACE IT WHEN YOUR BOARDING A PLANE/TRAIN AND SEE A FAMILY WITH SMALL CHILDREN YOUR HOPING THEY ARE SITTING FAR AWAY FROM YOU SMALL KIDS ARE CUTE AND CUDDLY AND ALSO CAN BE HUG DISTRACTIONS TO OTHER TRAVELLERS. KELSI HAS BEEN TRAVELLING SINCE SHE WAS 2 AND A VERY EASY TRAVELLER I MIGHT ADD. ALWAYS VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE TRAIN OR FLYING SHE WOULD PACK HER BACKPACK OF HER FAVORITE LAP TOYS & GAMES & SNACKS. I WOULD ALSO PACK IN MY CARRY ON A NEW GAME OR PAPER DOLLS (THEY TAKE TIME TO PUNCH OUT), COLORING BOOKS & CRAYONS, OR A LAP GAME. I WOULD GIFT WRAP EACH TOY WHICH GAVE HER EVEN MORE EXCITEMENT "OPENING UP A GIFT". ANOTHER IDEA I WOULD PRESENT HER WITH NEW SNACKS IN A BEACH BAG. SINCE THE AIRLINES AREN`T SERVING FOOD PACKING YOUR OWN FOOD IS A GOOD IDEA ANYWAY. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST A CHANGE OF OUTFIT JUST IN CASE. IT`S NOT EASY SITTING ON A TRAIN OR PLANE FOR HOURS AND STAYING OCCUPIED. SO KEEPING YOUR CHILDREN EXCITED AND OCCUPIED WILL KEEP YOUR NEIGHBORS NEXT TO YOU HAPPY WITH YOU TOO! 18 AUG 04 mrm
