1897 - A big warm-up made it feel like Spring, rather than January. Peoria saw its warmest January night on record when the low only dropped to 59 degrees. Springfield also set a record with a low of 56 degrees.2003 - 6 to 10 inches of snow accumlated in west central Illinois from Lewistown to Jacksonville. The snow began after midnight on the 2nd and didn't stop until the afternoon of the 3rd. Brooklyn, in western Schuyler County reported 9.9 inches of snow. Heavy snow also accumulated oer Vermilion County in east central Illinois with 6.5 inches reported in Bismark, which is north of Danville.
