Late Winter Firearm Hunting Season Underway

Updated: December 30, 2011
Illinois' first Late Winter Firearm Deer Hunting Season starts today and runs thru Sunday with about two-thirds of the state's counties open for hunting.
In fact, 54 of the state's 102 counties are open with only one permit per hunter for an antlerless deer.
Twenty six counties are closed to any permits altogether.
A total of 12 counties have unlimited permits available to hunters.
The hunting runs a half hour before sunrise to a half hour after sunset all three days.
The second and final three days of the season will be held January 13th, 14th, and 15th.
