Champaign dropped to 20 below zero, Springfield dropped to 14 below zero and Decatur dropped to 19 below zero, which are all records for the day. Peoria dropped to 24 below zero, which is a record for the entire month of December.1984 - It felt more like Spring than Winter in central Illinois as temperatures soared into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Springfield reached 74, which tied the record for December. Champaign reached a high of 68, the record high for the day. Peoria got up to 70, which is the second warmest day on record for December.
