This Day In Weather History

1908 - A tornado was on the ground from 22 mile in Randolph and St. Clair Counties in southwest Illinois.  The local mail carrier was injured as well as the person that ran to warn him of the oncoming tornado.  There were many homes overturned, a barn destroyed,and livestock killed. 

1950 - A record cold snap continued in central Illinois.  Champaign dropped to 5, which is a November record for the city.  Record lows for the date were set at many places in central Illinois.  

1996 - Freezing rain, sleet, snow and high winds all moved into central Illinois.  Significant icing occurred, causing numerous accidents and power outages.  Several injuries were reported.
