Austin KimNot many things in life are better than a good story. From breaking news to writing a good narrative, reporting is the best part about my job. I'm excited to share quality sports stories with Central Illinois.

I joined the WCIA sports team in August 2011. Before that, I worked in a cow farm...no joke. My former station, KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo., was smack dab in the middle of a cow pasture. While at KOMU, I earned my bachelor's degree in radio/tv journalism at the University of Missouri. On top of "studying", I also anchored stories for Newsy and the Huffington Post while briefly writing for Rivals website PowerMizzou.com.

St. Louis is my hometown, and I am a big Cardinals, Blues, Rams and Ted Drewes fan. Of course, being an alumnus, Mizzou sports take up a large part of my sports-watching time, too. I also lived in London for four months, so I cheer for Tottenham Hotspur when there is time to watch international soccer.

Outside of sports, I am a news junkie with a slight (ok, a really really bad) caffeine addiction. When it comes to music, my favorites are Dave Matthews Band and Incubus. My favorite cable show is Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations.

Enterprising stories is a fun challenge in my job. But story ideas are ALWAYS welcomed.
