INGREDIENTS
sugar substitute equal to 6 tablespoons sugar
2-4 tablespoons water
6 tablespoons sugar
1 cup oats
½ cup margarine, softened
1 1/2 cups flour
1 egg
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup chopped maraschino cherries
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup cherry juice
DIRECTIONS
Mix together sugars and margarine. Add egg, vanilla, cherries, juice, and water (start with 2 tablespoons); stir well. Add dry ingredients; mix well (if too dry, add 1-2 tablespoons more of water.) Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350oF for 10-12 minutes. Yield: 3 dozen cookies.
