The Thai American Insight (TAI) and the Thai Student Association (TSA) organizations at the University of
Illinois at Urbana - Champaign are proud to present the "Thai Loy Kratong Festival." This event will be held at the University YMCA on the University of Illinois campus on Sunday, November 7th, 2004 from 12pm to 5pm.
True to this tradition, those who attend TSA and TAI`s Thai Loy Kratong Festival will be able to make their own Kratong. Local Thai restaurants will also be present,
selling many delicious Thai dishes. Admittance is free, as are the performances.
Throughout this event, attendees will be able build kratongs, browse the Thai cultural displays, and participate in games and activities
that will be available.
Here is the schedule for the event.
12:00 pm - Doors open
1:00 pm - Opening speech regarding Thai culture
1:15 pm - Presentation on the Loy Kratong tradition
1:30 pm - Traditional Thai music performance
2:00 pm - Beauty pageant
3:00 pm - Traditional Thai dance
3:15 pm - Modern Thai music performance
3:45 pm - Kratong Contest
4:00 pm - Official floating of the Kratongs
5:00 pm - End of the event
