Central Illinois goes wild for wild mushrooms!
As shared by Becky Jo Low, a `roon hunter with 50 years experience, on "The Morning Show."
Find mushrooms on the ground in the woods. Many can be found by boies of water. Know what you`re eating, and if there`s doubt, don`t eat it.
Pick them and cut them in half.
Rinse in cold salt water and soak in a bowl of salt water overnight while refrigerating.
Use all purpose flour and dab `roons in Wesson oil, Crisco, or butter/margarine.
Fry in skillet with salt (to taste). Do not microwave wild mushrooms- they become rubbery.
When `roons become crispy, remove from frying pan and put them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Favorite ways to eat:
-In a bread and butter sandwich
-With scrambled eggs in a burrito
-In fettucini
-With cube steak
-Add to gravy
Be creative!!
