We're only halfway through summer, but the Decatur YMCA is already looking ahead to the school year. It's collecting school supplies for needy families. The goal is to get enough items to fill 3,000 backpacks. Organizers say the donations help students start the school year right. Donors can either donate a backpack with supplies or give a cash donation. They're accepting donations though August 5th. The YMCA is located on 220 W. McKinley Ave, in Decatur.
