Our Town: Gibson City Bike Patrols

Updated: June 8, 2011

A Police Department is trading four wheels for two. Officer Steven Bein is one of the only officers who have opted for the bike patrols. He works part time for the Gibson city police department but brings a long list of experience to the table. He retired last month from the army after his second tour in Iraq. It's been a major switch but one he welcomes. "There was great support from the community while I was gone on both tours, and I don't think there's a day that goes by that they don't thank you for your service," said Steve Bein. He says riding the bike helps him get to know the community a little better.
