Updated: June 6, 2011

Champaign volunteers are Joplin-bound with plenty of supplies for animals.

More than 500 pets have been rescued since the tornadoes hit. Volunteers say more animals continue to need help. That's why Pet Supplies Plus joined in to help. It's been collecting pet supplies and food this past week.

Two volunteers left this morning for Joplin with your donations. The car was packed to the brim-- volunteers only had enough room to pack one bag of clothes.

The volunteers will be back Sunday with rescued animals. They'll need help finding good foster homes. If you're interested in helping out, you can contact CatSnap.

And if you still want to donate supplies, another group leaves Wednesday. Just stop by Pet Supplies Plus on Kirby in Champaign.
