Toyota Voluntary Recall

Updated: June 1, 2011
Toyota has issued a recall for Priuses made in 2001, 2002 and 2003.

The recall is to replace the electric power steering pinion shaft attachment nuts. The recall impacts over 50,000 cars nationwide and over 100,000 worldwide.

Toyota says the nuts can come loose after repeatedly turning the steering wheel into the locked position.

The loosening of the nuts makes it difficult to turn left. If you're experiencing this problem, bring your Prius into a Toyota dealer where they will fix it free of charge.

But, be ready to wait - the procedure takes around four hours.
