First Race Finished

CHAMPAIGN - Friday night thousands of runners lined the streets of Champaign to kick off the 3rd annual Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon.

More than 18 thousand people will run in the different races all weekend.  About 4,547 people ran in 5k run/walk and were awarded with a medal at the finish line.

The race started at the intersection of Hazelwood Drive and First Street in Champaign.  Runners worked their way down First then turned on to Green Street and finally made their way to Memorial Stadium for the finish line.

The fastest time was about 15:53  for the 5K which is equivalent to 3.1 miles.  Some people even participated in the I-Challenge, which is running the 5K and the Full or Half Marathon on Saturday, which starts at 7:00 a.m.
