Springfield Mayor Tim Davlin was found dead in his home 9AM Tuesday .  He lives in the 2600 block of Apple Creek Drive in Springfield.  Police say he was shot, but they're not saying if it was foul play or a self inflicted gun shot wound.

Mayor Davlin was supposed to show up to court in an estate case involving his late cousin.  Police are treating this as a death investigation.  They won't say whether a gun was recovered.

In a news conference this morning, Springfield Police announced they would hand over the investigation to state police.
