Matt Wettersten

Updated: January 17, 2011
Matt WetterstenMatt Wettersten joined WCIA as the Weekend Sports Anchor in August of 2010, and he is thrilled to be back in Central Illinois.  It's a bit of a homecoming.  A graduate of Bradley University, he's lived most of his life in Illinois.

Prior to joining WCIA, he spent the past two years working as a Sports Anchor/Reporter at WLFI in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Yes, covering the Purdue Boilermakers.  He covered many events, including Purdue's back-to-back runs to the Sweet 16 in 2009 and 2010.

A native of Wilmette, IL, he's always had a close eye on the Illini.  "One of the greatest games I have ever watched was Illinois vs. Arizona in the 2005 NCAA Tournament," said Wettersten.

While at Bradley, he worked as a Sports Photographer at WMBD.  "Covering High School football on Friday nights is when I knew this was for me," said Wettersten.

Matt's wife Amanda is a teacher in Monticello.  His life revolves around sports and when he's not covering them, you can probably find him watching, playing, or talking about them.

If you have any story ideas, Matt would love to hear them.
